Dogs reflect our behaviour. Which dog do you like, think about, see often, feel a closeness to, have a kinship with? See if it is in our directory. If not, feel free to 'make a request'.

Basenji (wikipedia User bethagreatone)Hello! How are you? Nice to see you! It’s a nice day. Going for a walk? The garden is lovely. Lovely smell in the air. Good day!

(May I have a word?

We Basenji types do like to talk, you know. If it weren't for the fact that we are above the 'norm' we would most certainly talk and talk and talk and talk. We do have a lot to say, you see. Yes, that's right. WE HAVE A LOT TO Say; and that which we do say is quite comical, interesting. Verbose!

What is that you say? Verbose? Well, perhaps that is a fitting term. Hmmmmm, verbose. Yes, you are probably right. We are probably verbose; we Basenji types. Oh, alright, verbose we are. However, at least we have 'something to say'. Not like many who have nought happening upstairs; if you know what I mean.

I don't mean to sound rude; oh, nothing would offend me more than thinking that others find me rude. Oh, no, that wouldn't do at all. You see (not to put too finer point  to it) we Basenji types do find the hm, hm, 'common folk' rather disturbing to our otherwise fine sensibility of character. I am a little embarrassed to say so; however; it is true. We do hold ourselves 'a little above the rest'. Now I've let the cat out of the bag. Cat! Cat! Who said anything about cats. Oh, those dreadful creatures with their stickiness all over them. Oh, such creatures are they. Washing and preening, washing and preening. Do they do anything else.......?

.....I shall just calm myself a minute. Please excuse me whilst I settle my mind. Oh dear, I do seem to be giving away far too much of myself this day. FAR TOO MUCH. I am generally so refined and keep my opinions to myself. This I most certainly do. I do not wish for you or anybody to know me too well.

A cover-up; you say? No, just another aspect of a finely tuned, well bred character. Oh darn; I hate giving myself away. I really do. NOW I'm a little cross. Yes, I'm a little cross because you have given me up. Yes you have. You have unsettled me and I have given away far too much of myself. I WILL COMPOSE MYSELF and begin again. Yes, that is what I shall do. Forgive me my outburst. Good day!

Charming, comes to mind as does self constraining/critiquing. There is probably a little of the Basenji personality in most of us. He would rather that we see him as he projects rather than think this outward show of refinement is a cover for a much more diverse thinking individual. Yes, the Basenji personality is a quick thinking, ever changing force of friskiness. We could all do with the ability to think on our feet as does the delightful, energetic qualities of this versatile well favoured canine.)

Ho Ho Ho let’s be of good cheer.

Kiss me quick; give me a stick; a comfy old glove.

Ho Ho Ho and what have we here; a mistress, a master; and they are so dear!

(Indeed; this one is full of surprises; is it not. To those who own one of these beloved animals will know that, indeed, they have at their disposal a very energetic, quick thinking, loving, wildly crased animal who will go into top gear at the drop of a hat. And this is the energy of the Boxer personality; is it not? Indeed it is. The Boxer personality likes to have it say/ its way and, if not it will climb the nearest tree (metaphorically speaking, of course). It will climb the nearest tree to have its say and or its way.

And what is meant by this? I’ll tell you. It is geared to seek the truth of any situation. Indeed this is true my friends. It is geared to seek not only truth but also to shove it down as many throats as it can reach…. We jest, dear friends. It doesn’t manage to shove it down throats however, if they were near enough they may feel the brunt of his/her words bearing down in their direction; for the Boxer personality likes the truth to be known. And; it will do the very best that it can in order for the truth to be known…This it will, to the consternation of all and sundry.

So, this is why the Boxer personality is somewhat adrenalin based. It ‘needs’ the truth to be ‘out there’. It ‘needs’ this so very much that there is an almost ‘pent up’ energy just waiting to be unleashed from within its belly. The Boxer type probably doesn’t know that this energy is not the norm. However, for those Boxer personalities (should you be reading this) know that the energy in your belly is not the norm. It is an energy that thrusts you forward in life to be the high energy individual that you are.)
